Great design doesn’t have to come with a steep price tag. In this piece for Apartment Therapy, I explore nine of the Swedish furniture giant’s most blog-worthy pieces.
“These nine pieces are tried and tested purchases that even grown-ups with grown-up money should consider snatching up for their homes.”
I scoured through shelter magazines, interior design blogs, decorators’ portfolios and Apartment Therapy’s own House Tour archive to discover which of IKEA’s accessories, furniture and picture frames are frequently spotted in high-end rooms. The goal is to deliver to readers an affordable shopping list of accessible items with big style.
My favorite takeaway from this piece is that the Billy bookcase is sometimes used as an economic measurement tool by Bloomberg. Apparently the price of IKEA furniture across international markets is as good as the Big Mac in comparing the strength of global currency.
